Viego, New Transforming LOL Champion

Hi LOL fans a few days ago new champion made his entrance to Summoner’s rift. I had a chance to play Viego and study about him for the last few days. I will give you my opinion about him, so you can start grinding immediately.

Viego

As I have said, the champion that came to League of Legends is called Viego. It’s part of the big new patch that came out on 21 January this year (2021). There were other things in the update like a lot of new skins, item changes. Ten champions got buffed in this patch and seven got nerfed. Besides all of those minor changes, Viego is the main star of this patch.

Viego is meant to be played in the jungle because of his fast playstyle, but he can also be taken into the top lane because of his ability to turn the ganks in his favor especially if he is being underestimated.

Viego’s abilities

Passive -Sovereign’s Domination- The best thing about Viego is actually his passive which allows him to temporarily possess the enemy he helps kill. This is especially good if you kill an enemy that is really fed because you became a complete copy of that champion.

Q-Blade of the Ruined King
Passive - Viego’s Q passive makes his trading with basic attacks much easier because it drastically increases your healing from basic attacks.
Active - Viego has a sword that he can use to hit enemies.

W-Spectral Maw - Viego charges up and dashes on enemies. Dashing causes enemies to get stunned and they also get damaged. Stun duration increases the more you charge but the damage and dash range don't change.

E-Harrowed Path - When close to the walls you become invisible to enemy champions. While you’re invisible, your movement speed and attack speed increase.

R-Heartbreaker- Viego teleports forward smashing the ground. If he hits an enemy, he becomes the exact copy of the enemy he hit, including all items that the player he killed bought. If Viego hits multiple enemies during his ground smashing attack, he becomes the copy of the enemy that has the least health points.

How to build Viego

Items:

Embernife is a starting item that you should buy at the start of the game. This item gives you the ability to kill monsters in the jungle faster without losing that much health, so you can help your teammates.

Next is the Refillable potion that you buy at the start of the game. It heals you for 100 health during 10 seconds. The potion can be used twice, after which it empties, and you need to return to the base to refill it.

Blade of the Ruined King is a core item for Viego. This will help you last longer in fights. How? Well, it gives you 40 attack damage more and 25% more attack speed but the most important thing is that it gives you 12% life steal. That means, for the damage you deal to enemies, you get 12% of that damage back to you as health (if you deal 100 damage, your health will increase by 12 points). This item is really good against champions that have a lot of health percentage.

Another core item for Viego is Kraken slayer. It gives you 65 attack damage more, 25% more attack speed, and 20% more critical strike chance. This is good on Champions like Viego that deal most of their damage with basic attacks.

Runes:

For runes, I recommend you choose Precision and Domination. On the Precision page best thing to choose is Conqueror, In the Conqueror page pick triumph, Legend: alacrity, Coup de grace.

For the domination page, you should pick Sudden impact and Ravenous Hunter. The last thing on the runes page that you should pick is attack speed, adaptive force, and armor.

Why these runes? It’s because Conqueror will increase your healing from basic attacks, which are the main source of your damage. Domination page allows you to get some more damage from Sudden impact rune after using any kind of movements like your E ability or R ability and some more healing from Ravenous hunter rune.

Countering champions

Champions that counter Viego

Most of the champions that counter Viego have a lot of crowd control like Rammus, Udyr, Fiddlesticks, Ivern, Evelyn, Shaco. These champions cancel Viego’s abilities. If you end up in the game with any of these champions, I recommend you to buy Quicksilver Sash items. This item is used to remove crowd control. For example, if someone stuns you, and cancels your abilities, you can use this item to free yourself up.

Champions that Viego counters

Champions that Viego counters are: Trundle, Karthus, Kindred, Graves, Wukong. That’s mainly because those champions need to farm for a very long time to get to the same strength level as Viego. That makes Viego really good in early game fights when those champions aren’t farmed up enough and don’t deal much damage.

Conclusion

Viego is an awesome champion! I would recommend everyone to try him especially if you have a faster playstyle
